Áine Kelly’s Portrait

“Coarlis” is a Capsual womenswear collection that draws inspiration from the vibrant beauty of coral reefs and the weird and wonderful creatures that inhabit them. Living beside the sea has given me a life-long love of all things aquatic and fuels my fascination for finding unusual shapes and colour combinations in nature. The underwater organic shapes of a reef informed irregular silhouettes, with particular inspiration from pillar collar and pink vase coral formations with their strange movements and wavy outlines. The collection features diverse textures of soft and smooth in bouclè wool, PVC, silk, and cotton fabrics in complementary purple and orange tones. The use of wadding in many pieces not only serves a functional purpose but alsodraws from the texture of sea sponges for a cosy, cocooned aesthetic. This collection is for a young customer who enjoys fun and fabric, and expressing their uniqueness through their clothes.
