On The Road To God Knows was inspired by the afterlife as seen through the lens of Irish culture. I drew inspiration from Irish music, mainly by the Pogues and The Dubliners. Many of their songs deal with death and show the use of alcohol and dark humour in dealing with death, while also showing deep faith and respect for traditional Catholic ceremonies and views of the afterlife.

Many of the silhouettes in the collection were inspired by St. Patrick’s cathedral while the colour story was inspired by the work of the polish painter Zdislaw Beksinski who’s surreal work deals with mortality and the afterlife while making use of Christian symbolism.

The references to lingerie throughout the collection symbolize the playfulness and slightly perverse nature in which death is viewed in Irish culture relative to the teachings of the catholic church.
