Film & TV Production

I was the Director for our short film “Stand-Up”. I decided to direct the film since I’ve been involved in stand up comedy for a number of years, and I wanted to make a film that would bring the anxiety you feel before public speaking to life. My aim was to tel a story that was both somber and realistic, while also being humorous with an important message behind it. Chrissy our protagonist has been thrown into this strange world, not really sure of himself. Going up on stage is very clearly a big dream of his, but when he steps into the club, he’s overcome by fear. We used predominantly close ups and hand held shots to achieve the nervousness of Chrissy, and to show the chaotic world of the Dublin Stand up scene. It isn’t until Chrissy meets an older man who gives him some words of advice, does Chrissy muster up the courage to follow his dreams. “Stand-Up” promises to tell a relatable and funny stories, while also having a great message behind it.
