“FREEDOM COMES FROM THE STREETS” is a typographic exploration of protest as a collective milestone—deeply embedded in the French identity. Strikes are more than moments of disruption; they are rituals of resistance, often repeated, always vital. This book places the reader inside the chaos of a French protest, using type, rhythm and disruption to narrate a fictional march that spirals out of control. At its core, the project questions visibility, expression, and collective strength. The layout mirrors the structure of demonstrations: a calm, unified start that descends into confusion and noise, using illegible or broken typography to reflect emotional escalation. Inspired by Orelsan’s Manifeste, and built with tools like spray paint, markers, and handwritten fonts, the book gives voice to slogans, chants, and moments often lost in translation. Each spread is a heartbeat, a breath, a footstep—capturing protest not as spectacle, but as lived experience.
