This project looks at the redesign of parts of the Ground, First and Second floor to improve circulation, universal design and give an overall luxurious feel throughout the space. Upon research into the history of Birr and Birr Castle, I was inspired by the Georgian detail throughout both spaces. I wanted to keep the integrity of the hotel and its history whilst opening up the clientele. This lead me to my concept which is “ Traditional meets Modern “. This concept has influenced my design, which incorporates modern and traditional elements that are evident through furniture, material choices, colours, way finding and self-check in/check out systems. The design style is gentle mix of traditional and modern elements that create a cosy, intimate and luxurious space.
