Rachel Fink
[ LEVEL eight ]

Rachel Fink’s Portrait

Within this project I explored the readaptation and reuse of an existing office block as a community centre, with particular thought towards elderly people who feel alone and for adults with physical and mental disabilities to fulfil social responsibilities. I focused on the physical and mental connection to nature and how they interlink. I gave great consideration to universal design, biophilic design, sustainability, wellness and new technology, with use of natural elements helping to create a calming and zen environment with sensory experiences. The new interior design for the project has been inspired by concept ‘Intertwined with Nature’ focusing on natural habitats such as the forest, sea and desert. A different aesthetic for each space was created by incorporating natural materials and open spaces, while contributing to a healthier environment that gives back to the community.
