The presentation secondary school building will be repurposed into a nursing centre for long and short-term elderly users. The concept is a balance between biophilic elements and the building structure, when combined they result in an enhanced well-being of the users. This concept is suitable for the project as users require naturalistic elements to connect to the outdoor environment. Biophilic elements hold many benefits such as regulating sleep patterns, decreasing blood pressure, and stimulating social interaction and productivity. Some elements considered in the project are natural light, a natural material selection and colour palettes, greenery elements, and consideration of sounds. By incorporating these elements, a comfortable environment will be achieved where residents feel safe and welcomed. By prioritising universal design, a positive change will emerge strengthening the community and unifying everyone with each other, the building, and nature.
