Sophie Mulligan’s Portrait

For this project, I have redesigned and renovated the Royal Hibernian Building into a day center for young people with autism. My goal is to create a space for ASD people to feel comfortable and at ease within the space, the primary objective has been to highlight the beneficial effects of how different elements of designs can help improve the space for kids and teenagers with autism. The main function and requirements of this design are sensory rooms, play areas, learning zones, and a safe environment to create an enjoyable experience for the user. My concept is inspired by a jigsaw puzzle that reflects the idea of inclusivity in terms of people with autism and having their needs met through design in terms of colour, lighting, and textures this design will incorporate design approaches such as Sustainability, well-being, and Universal design.
