Deirdre Kinlay’s Portrait

For this project I have explored the readaptation and reuse of an existing building, turning a magnificent residential country house, rich in history, into a Boutique Hotel. My concept and the primary objective has been to offer the clientele a “Digital Detox” experience, where they can “unplug” from technology for the duration of their visit, allowing them to embrace the beauty of nature and the surrounding countryside. The beneficial effects of a digital detox in relation to human health, combined with the use of colours from nature, used throughout the interior, will leave the client feeling refreshed and energised. The mood I have chosen, is inspired by taking this reclaimed time to experience something new. The proposed space plan will focus on embracing the history of the building throughout and developing luxury bedroom suites, adding a calm and therapeutic atmosphere, to help initiate relaxation.
