Lorna Brophy’s Portrait

Claragh House invites guests to experience the timeless legacy of the Watts family and The Tyrconnell whiskey a place where history, luxury, and Irish craftsmanship unite. Inspired by The Tyrconnell, a racehorse that defied 100-1 odds to win the National Produce Stakes in 1876, this design captures resilience, triumph, and the joy of the unexpected. As someone who adores classical buildings, it was a privilege to reimagine a space with such rich legacy and history. From the moment I stepped into Claragh House, I felt a homely warmth and a spark of creativity, sensing its immense potential. Drawing on Donegal’s rugged landscapes, the heritage of Tyrconnell whiskey, and my love for historical preservation, the redesign balances tradition and modernity with rich textures, warm tones, and timeless elegance. With luxurious accommodations, vibrant spaces, and authentic details, Claragh House is more than a hotel it’s a heartfelt celebration of history, creativity, and possibility.
