Helene Johnsborg Lyngaas’s Portrait

Claragh House in Donegal was home of the Watt’s family till the 1970s. A century earlier the main house on site was completed, and the Watt’s made a successful whiskey called the “Tyrconnell Whiskey”. This period of history also marked when the first telephone was created. Now Claragh House has been bought by a hotelier which is looking to transform the property into a boutique hotel. By finding inspiration in the mentioned events of the past, I have created a concept called “Back to Origins”. The goal of the concept is to allow the guests of the proposed boutique hotel to escape modern everyday life by feeling like they travel back in time. To achieve this, my proposed design offers Victorian inspired interior, period-dressed staff and phone-free zones. Additionally, the design features a variety of on-site experiences, which ensure that Claragh House becomes a unique travel destination for today’s adventure-seekers.
