Located in the heritage-rich town of Dalkey, this intergenerational community arts centre reimagines a protected structure, originally a mock Tudor mansion and school, through biophilic, human-centred, and Universal Design. Inspired by the lobster pot, whose interwoven knots symbolise connection, resilience, and community, it welcomes people of all ages and abilities, fostering accessibility, inclusivity, and creative exchange. The centre features a versatile auditorium and exhibition space, a café, creative studios, and well-being spaces designed to inspire artistic practice and social connection. Sustainability is central, integrating eco-friendly materials, low-impact construction, and a seamless dialogue between built and natural environments. Honouring heritage while embracing contemporary expression, it intertwines past and future. More than a venue, Creative Connections is a living network of creativity and belonging, where art, nature, and community interlace, ensuring everyone has a space to gather, learn, and create for a more connected, sustainable future.
